Germination guide
Cornus wilsoniana seeds will usually germinate in 90-730 days, even under good conditions germination may be erratic. Normally will only germinate with light so surface sow. Sow Cornus wilsoniana seeds on the surface of the seed sowing mix at about 12°C.

Outdoor Treatment, in temperate regions, can give seeds exactly the sequence of cold and damp and warm conditions needed to encourage germination. Check your weather conditions to see whether they may be appropriate. Shady sheltered conditions are recommended (to keep humidity and temperature regular) in a free draining, but water retentive medium - this can be in pots in a cold frame, where they can be easily protected from weeds and animals.

Norman Deno suggests 2 months at 20°C then 3 months at 4°C. The seeds could be vernalised and germinated in a "cold frame". Scarification or chemical treatment may help break dormancy. Fresh cleaned seeds germinate quicker.
