l'Ancienne Ecurie is a gite converted from the former stables of a viticulteur's Maison de Maitre,
and retains the wonderful old French timberwork.

It has two bedrooms, one with a romantic double bed and matching bedroom furniture bought locally,
the second with two single beds which join together to make one very large double bed.

It has a fully equipped bathroom, a kitchen with oven, four-ring electric hob, double sink, and fridge.
There is electric heating throughout for the winter months.

Outside, overlooking the hillside on the edge of the village, there is a terrace shaded by acacias,
with a table and chairs for meals and aperitifs,.

A second gîte, with 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds that can join to make a double). As there is plenty of room, it is also possible to have a small bed in the master bedroom and a small bed in the hall. A sofa-bed can be put in the sitting-room. There is a shower-room with toilet upstairs and a WC downstairs.
Paguignan, a small hamlet of about thirty houses, is in the Minervois wine area (excellent reds, Muscat, and some surprisingly good white) and is situated in a sheltered valley of vines and garrigue, rolling countryside between the coastal plain around Narbonne and the Montagne Noire to the north-west.

Local shops and restaurants are 2 km. away.

The Cathar citadel of Minerve is only 8 km., perched on its rocky outcrop between the gorges of the rivers Cesse and Brian.

There is a swimming-pool at the cafe at Minerve and one can swim in the river there and between Bize-Minervois and Agel.
The nearest beach is at Narbonne Plage.
Shopping, cinemas and night-life - Bize, Narbonne, Beziers, Carcassonne - where there is of course the famous mediaeval walled city, a fabulous view lit up at night.

From Easter onwards there are festivities in the region - egg-hunts on Easter Monday, Mayday celebrations followed by gorgeous evenings with nightingales and glow-worms, and hoopoes and cuckoos by day. The air is constantly scented by the wild flowers which abound. All summer there are concerts and fetes with food and dancing, especially in September and October, during and after the grape harvest.
