Germination guide
Silene chalcedonica v. albiflora seeds will usually germinate in 21-30 days. Normally will only germinate with light so surface sow. Sow Silene chalcedonica v. albiflora seeds on the surface of a Well drained seed sowing mix at about 20C.

Scarification: Seeds have a hard seed coat that is impermeable to water, and which prevents the seed from imbibing. Large seeds can be chipped with a chizel, knife or rasp. Smaller seeds may be scraped on sandpaper, clipped with nail clippers or pricked with a needle. Try to do this on the side away from the hilum. After scarification seeds are usually soaked in warm water, which should be changed daily. Most seeds swell up when they are soaked, those that do should be sown immediately.

(pre-chill for 2 weeks).
