Some knowledge about growing from seed is necessary to germinate even the easiest seeds.
Most seeds require humidity to germinate, even desert plants like
require that their growing medium remains moist until germination.|
Most seeds require oxygen to germinate, if buried too deep in their growing medium, or if the medium is too wet,
the seeds may not get the oxygen they require.
Freesia refracta seeds will usually germinate in 25-30 days, even under good conditions germination may be erratic.
Soak Freesia refracta seeds for 24 hours before sowing 6mm deep in an acidic, water retentive and free draining seed compost. Keep humid at around 20°C. Good ventilation helps prevent fungal infection, but also dries the seed compost.
